Many people may have wondered about chemicals for choosing suitable for the workpiece. The answer that chemicals commonly sold can be classified according to the purity level in many grades. Normally, the grade of chemicals is classified into 3 grades.

1. Industrial Chemicals (Commercial grade)
- Low purity chemicals (purity <90%)
- Suitable for use as raw materials in production and as contaminated chemicals without affecting
analysis.

2. Analytical and Lab Chemicals (Analytical grade 'AR' / Laboratory grade 'LR')
Classified into 2 categories based on purity value
2.1 Lab Grade Chemicals (Laboratory grade; Lab grade; LR)
Chemical purity >95%
Same or better quality as pharmaceutical grade chemicals
Suitable for use in applications where chemical purity is not a concern
2.2 Analytical Chemicals (Analytical grade; AR grade; AR)
Chemical purity >99%
Suitable for use in high-precision analytical work and for preparing standard solutions

3. Specialty Research Chemicals
These chemicals are manufactured for a specific purpose and for a specific type of analysis. This type of chemicals includes high purity and expensive chemicals such as USP standard solutions for pharmaceutical analysis and ICP standard solutions for ICP analysis, etc.
Each chemical grade has different properties and concentrations for different types of applications. Therefore, choosing the right chemical for the type of application is important.
